Albert Park is an important landmark in Auckland city, born almost 60,000 years ago when a volcano in what is now Kitchener Street erupted and covered the area in a thick layer of ash. Since this time, the park has been used for many activities including an area for Maori to tend crops, a defence post for the army and, more recently, the park has become home to some significant sculptures, statues and art works.
Many people find Albert Park a convenient place to sleep.

For some reason in Albert Park theres a gas lampost that still works. Looking at it is kind of like stepping into some kind of time warp. It's on the stairs on the way down to Victoria street.
