Sculpture on the Gulf
26 January - 11 February 2007 Church Bay Walkway Matiatia, Waiheke Island
Picture of One More Round sculpture by Gregor Kregar.Sculpture on the Gulf is a biennial outdoor sculpture exhibition placed on one of Waiheke Island's coastal walkways. This exhibition is free and open to the public all day.
Original sculptural works will be nestled in the cliffs with the sea view back drop. For the first time in 2007, the sculptures will be lit up at night to encourage evening and twilight walks. The exhibition will culminate in an award ceremony on the last day.
The two kilometre public walkway, starts at the passenger ferry terminal at Matiatia and ends near Church Bay.
The walkway will be manned between the hours of 9am and 7pm throughout the exhibition. During this time, volunteers will assist with enquiries, sell catalogues and water. Coffee will be available midway along the track.
Visitors are welcome to walk outside these hours, however, after dark, the track is difficult and dangerous to navigate in places.
Among the 26 artists selected to exhibit at this year's event is eleven year old Lilly Rhind. Her artwork is called "Clip Clop".
