Bayswater

Getting There

By Car Bayswater sits on a penninsula that runs off Lake Rd, halfway between Takapuna and Devonport. The directions I give to anyone driving to Bayswater are turn right at the Esmond Rd/Lake Rd intersection lights (following the sign to Devonport) and drive down Lake Rd until you get to the McDonalds where you hang another right into Bayswater Ave (formerly known as King Edward Ave).

By Ferry Fullers runs a regular ferry service between Downtown Queen St and the Bayswater Marina. The service runs half hourly at peak times on week days with off peak ferries running on the hour. They also offer a limited service during the weekends so don't plan on visiting Bayswater in the evening on weekends unless you have another mode of transport for your return journey. Parking is a bit of an issue now as the developers who have applied for resource consent have turned what was, until last week, free carparking for those using the ferry into pay carparking meaning ferry users must now pay for carparking on top of their ferry tickets. In protest ferry users have bouycotted the carkpark preferring to walk a little further but also strengthening our resolve to become more active in resisting further developments on the Marina site which are obviously not in the public interest. Come on North Shore City Council this is doing little to get people using public transport. Who are you kidding really!!!

By Bus A regular Ritchies bus service runs from Milford/Takapuna down Bayswater Ave to the Marina to meet the ferry. There is also a reasonably regular city bus service which goes between Bayswater and Victoria St in the CBD.
