Borders Books
Borders is perhaps Auckland's most extensive bookstore, and comes with an in built cafe.
It is a reader-friendly store, and encourages browsers to read in-store before and after buying books. The bookstore is spread over multiple levels, with an exciting complex architecture that comes with lots of hiding opportunities should you bump into your ex.
Its best feature is it is open late until 10pm every night, making it an ideal after-dinner outing followed by a coffee at the MezzeBar.

I walk into Borders and can spend HOURS there...a great place!
All I ever really seem to go into in Borders is the kids section, which is pretty good, probably the best (at least the biggest) in the CBD area. Can't say much about the rest although I find the somewhat scattered layout of the place quite nice, if not a little intentionally confusing.
